FIRST AID KIT

I'm obsessed with the two beauties behind the Swedish duo, First Aid Kit.
Sisters, Johanna and Klara, sing in harmonious vocals with woodsy folk influences.
They started out in 2007 and have already worked with Jack White,
Fleet foxes and Bright Eyes among others.  With the release of "The Lion's Roar" in 2012, their
critically acclaimed album hit #1 in Sweden.  I can see why!

The first image is from Refinery 29's piece on the NEWPORT FOLK FEST.
Check it out if you haven't already.  Lots of great people in their festival gear.
I threw their video of my favorite song in too, because I can't get enough of it!

BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW

HOLY.  CRAP.  This movie is so friggin' good.  We saw it at the Roxy Theatre here in San francisco.  If you get a chance to see it, go!  I'm dissapointed to say that I fell asleep part way through and woke up when it was almost over.  I'm known for not getting through ANY movie.  So I need to see it again, and am very excited to do so.

FRANCESCA WOODMAN

Francesca Woodman was an extremely talented artist that was far ahead of her time.  She lives on through her work and legacy which only a quarter of the world has seen out of over the 800 photos she took.  Most of her work was done in school and was taken between 72-81, when she tragically died at the early age of 22 of suicide. Her work is so ghostly and hints to the spirit world and death.  The images look like something that was accidentally caught on film that we weren't supposed to see.  Most of her photos are of herself nude.  Their is a film called The Woodman's above, about her life, and her family of artists that was really great and terribly sad.  Her innate artistic vision and extreme fragility gave birth to some of the most creative and stunning work.

MICHELLE LAMY

The eccentric Michelle Lamy is best known as an artist, fashion icon, and creative accomplice to fashion and furniture designer, Rick Owens.  The perfect duo.  She is an inspiration, witchy, and beyond intriguing.  Watch the short film about them and their life...they're beautiful.
